My Story About Writing This Book
It was around 1996, I think, when I became acquainted with the statement made by science writer Daniel Goleman about how a person’s IQ was not the only way of being successful and smart; that IQ might not be the only identifier that determines success. I was ECSTATIC! Not because I didn’t think I was smart. I knew I was smart, at least a little. But I also knew that I was not among the really smart people with the genius IQ scores. So why was I so thrilled to hear this?
His statement gave me new hope, that I too could enjoy the success that we all desire, even though I was not among the brilliant. It spelled a new beginning for me, personally.
The Workshop
After writing the book, I decided to create the workshop for groups who could use the information to learn together.
It was created to present an interactive and fun way of learning about using our emotions intelligently as we build relationships with others.
The workshop turns your learning into a fun learning experience that enables you to better grasp the concepts involved.
It will also be available online in the near future.

About the Book
Yes, I wanted to know more and understand how I could tap into this new power that I obviously had and knew very little about. So being the researcher and life-long learner that I am, I began my research.
Admittedly, I was disappointed when I found that so many of the experts — four primary experts, I believe — all had a different take on the subject of using your emotions to enhance your success. It was confusing, to say the least.
What I was able to glean from my project though, was that the ability to use your emotions in a smart way, could actually help you with decisions, performance, relationships, and behaviors. I learned that emotions are tools that when can learn to use for our benefit in these very crucial areas of life.
As I worked my way through the research, it was incredible to learn how much using emotions can change our every-day lives. But I also knew that most of us, people like you and I, smart but perhaps not brilliant — we would never understand how to maximize this knowledge based on the technical jargon produced by our experts.
So I wrote my book so the intelligent but not brilliant people people could have a better opportunity to use these incredible tools called emotions, and that are inside of all of us, to have a better chance at success.
